The West Windsor Branch of the Mercer County Library and The Friends of the West Windsor Library would like to announce that Joshua Chang and Srushti Nerkar have each been awarded a Jan Trenholm scholarship. The Jan Trenholm scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who have volunteered their time to the West Windsor Library.
Joshua Chang volunteered considerably in 2018 and 2019. He was cited for working well with the other volunteers, his diligence at completing the tasks assigned to him, an in particular for helping the children’s department with its summer reading program.
Srushti Nerkar has been volunteering considerably since 2019. During the very busy summer months in 2019 Nerkar helped keep the Summer Reading Program registration desk organized. She was available to fill in when some volunteers were absent, and she was always on hand to guide the other volunteers to make sure they knew what to do. She also helped with ongoing arts and crafts projects and with the weekly game days.
During the school year Nerkar continued assisting with programs at the library. She regularly inspected the shelves to make sure the books were in order, and also helped patrons to find items.
Last year, despite limited volunteer opportunities, Nerkar continued to help organize the shelves and also volunteered for the Friends of the West Windsor Library, sorting and scanning donated books.
On behalf of the staff at the West Windsor Library and the Friends of the West Windsor Library we thank Chang and Nerkar for the time and efforts they have given to the library.
The Jan Trenholm scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who have volunteered their time to the West Windsor Library. The scholarship program is supported by donations in honor of Jan Trenholm, who was a dedicated volunteer to the West Windsor Library and to the Friends of the West Windsor Library. We also want to thank Jan's husband, William Warren, and her family for their generous donations to the scholarship fund in order to promote the importance of Jan's legacy of community volunteerism to our wonderful library.
